Why this change?  Do not try to purge the book of historical references.
Many folks will read the 1.8 book (or whatever book is the "latest") even
though they may use various different versions of Subversion on the
machines they use.  It is valuable, then, to record the earliest version in
which a feature came into existence.  Please revert.
